Baby, it’s cold outside, which means that you need to be doing all that you can to keep your body as comfortable as possible. You want to know that you can go out of the house feeling warm, but you also must make sure that you are warm while you are IN the house, and that really does make a difference! The winter has well and truly tucked its feet under the table, and you should ensure that your house is as comfortable and warm on the inside as you feel on the outside in all your layers.
Your home is supposed to be a comfortable and cozy place to be, but what do you do if the boiler repair guy hasn’t shown up yet? What do you do if the radiators have given up the ghost? How are you supposed to keep your body warm and feeling as if you are able to cope with the cold? Winter is an excellent time to save some cash, and you don’t need to hemorrhage money on the heating through the month, either. With this in mind, here are some of the ways that you can stay warm in the winter without a heater.
Stop the wind from getting in! One of the most important things that you can do this winter is to block the wind from getting into your house. If you live in a house or an apartment, you should make sure that the wind isn’t leaking in through the windows or the doorframes. Curtains and blinds aren’t just for decoration, you know! You can bet that they actually have a purpose in keeping the heat in. You can also get filler for the gaps around the frames.
Give your walls superpowers. Another great way to warm up the house is with insulation. You can have it layered in the attic and the walls and you’ll be able to thicken the bit between walls so that cold air is trapped rather than moving through it. Filling the space keeps the rooms warm individually.
Light a fire. If you have a fireplace in the lounge, get the chimney guys out to check it over and make sure that it’s safe to use. Then, light a fire! You can light one in the lounge but if you don’t have a fireplace, why not invest in a fire pit for the patio? This will help you to stay warm outside, too.
Cook. If your heaters aren’t working, get to cooking. The oven warms up the kitchen and the rest of the house by association, and that is going to warm you up real fast. Cooking will also give you something warm to eat, which will help you on the inside, and if your heaters aren’t working but your oven is, it’s a good way to make sure that you can feel comfortable.
Cuddle up. If you’re not alone, strip off and get under the blankets and cuddle! Body heat swapping body heat will keep you both comfortable and warm!
