Spring Cleaning for Your Home’s Exterior: Tips to Make It Look New Again

The weather is finally starting to warm up, which means it’s time for spring cleaning! This year, don’t just clean the inside of your home – give your home’s exterior a good scrubbing too. Here are some tips to help you get started.

Start at the top and work your way down.

Cleaning your home’s gutters, roof, and chimney should be at the top of your list. Not only will this help improve your home’s curb appeal, but it will also prevent any water damage that could occur if these areas are left neglected.

If you don’t feel comfortable climbing a ladder to clean your gutters or getting up on your roof, hire a professional such as Gutter Boy Cleaning to do it for you. It’s worth the investment to have peace of mind knowing that these essential tasks have been taken care of.

Wash your windows.

Nothing makes a home look brighter and fresher than clean windows. If you have a lot of windows, this task might seem daunting, but you can make it easier by breaking it up into smaller sections. Wash the outside of your windows one day and then the inside the next.

If you have any difficult-to-reach windows, hire a professional window washer to take care of them for you. They’ll be able to get them sparkling clean in no time!

As you’re washing your windows, take a look at the frames and sills. If they look worn or dirty, give them a good scrubbing with soapy water or a power washer. Once they’re clean, seal them with a coat of paint or weatherproofing sealant to help protect them from the elements.

 Pressure wash your siding.

If your home has vinyl or aluminum siding, you can give it a new lease on life by pressure washing it. This will remove any dirt, grime, and mildew that’s built up over the winter months.

You can rent a pressure washer from your local hardware store or hire a professional to do the job for you. Just be sure to read the instructions carefully before using the machine, so you don’t damage your siding.

Once your siding is clean, take a look at your trim and gutters. If they’re looking dingy, give them a good cleaning as well. A pressure washer can also be used to clean these areas if they’re made of durable materials.

Spruce up your landscaping.

Now that the snow has finally melted, look at your yard and see what needs to be done to prepare it for spring. Start by raking up any leaves or debris that’s accumulated over the winter months. Then, edge your lawn and trim back any overgrown bushes or trees.

If you have flower beds, now is the time to start preparing them for planting. First, pull out any weeds, spread some fresh mulch, and then start planning what you’d like to plant. Spring is the perfect time to add some color to your yard with beautiful flowers!

These are just a few of the many tasks you can do to give your home’s exterior a spring makeover.
