Simple Ways To Reduce Air Pollution At Home

When you throw open the windows to catch a breeze through your home, you do so to freshen the house. The problem is that outdoor air pollution is responsible for that hacking cough you had last month, and the sneezing you’re dealing with on a daily basis. Even when you shut the windows, you are still going to be dealing with indoor air pollution. When you’re running a fire in the winter, you create air pollution inside despite the chimney you use to get rid of the smoke. When you burn your scented candles, you’re creating chemicals in the air that you’re then breathing in. It’s not the nicest thing to be doing!

Simple Ways To Reduce Air Pollution At Home

Fighting pollution in the house is so important for your health and for your comfort. Heating, cooking, perfumes, cleaning – it all adds to the air you’re breathing in the house. Modern homes are created to keep the heat in, which means it’s not always easy to ventilate all of that indoor air pollution away from the hose. Some pollutants can be avoided, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t reduce how exposed you are. So, you need to do what you can to reduce how much air pollution you have around you. We’ve got a few suggestions for you below:

Open The Windows

When you cook, spray perfume, or clean, you need to open those windows and let the air out of the house. Ventilation is so important and if your vents are blocked, it doesn’t mean that you can’t throw those windows open and air out the space as much as possible. Doing this is the best way to ventilate the house quickly, and even in the winter months, you can do better for your home with fresh air! Use the extraction fan when you’re cooking, too, as it’s going to ensure that you get the build-up of nitrogen dioxide out of the house, too.

Stop Using Candles

Candles are nice, but when you don’t use soy candles you risk polluting the air inside the house. Use electric candles to create the same flicker effect, and use natural flowers as a way to add scent to the home.

Go Low Maintenance

With your home decor, choose hardwood floors and tiles so that you can use less bleach and they’re much easier to clean. You will do far better with your air pollution levels when you don’t have to use too much bleach. Carpets also collect a lot of dust and dirt, which contribute to pollution in the air.

Look At The Humidity Levels

Have you considered Specialty Air Purifiers? Keeping the humidity levels at the right level in your home is so important, and ventilating and purifying the air is the first place to begin. You’ll prevent mold and do better for those with allergies in the house. Purifying the air is vital for your health.

You deserve to breathe fresh air.
