Making Your Home More Welcoming

If you are the kind of person who likes to have a lot of people over for dinner parties, movie nights, and assorted other get-togethers, then you want your guests to feel as welcome as possible as soon as they get to your home.

With that in mind, below are some of the most effective ways you can make your home more welcoming to visitors right now:

Light up the driveway

Lighting up the driveway is a really good way of making your guests feel like you really want them to enjoy their time with you. It will ensure they can easily find their way from the driveway to your home without tripping or falling in the dark, and when your home is lit up with lots of fairy lights wrapped around the fence or lots of lanterns lining the driveway, your home will instantly appear cozy and inviting.

Revamp the front door

The front door is the entrance to your home, so if you want the place to be as welcoming as possible, making some effort to make it look nice is a good idea. There are lots of ways to do this from replacing it with one of these pretty provia front doors to repainting it in a warmer color like lavender or red, to simply hanging a lantern on either side and putting a welcome mat out. The nicer it looks the happier your friends will be when they show up to visit.

Show the hallway some love

Once they’re through the front door, they will be in the hallway, and they will want to feel comfortable, so ensure you have a coat and hat stand where they can hang their outdoor clothing safely away. You may also want to put a boot bench in the area where they can sit and take off their shoes if you are a no-shoe home. A wicker basket with lots of cleanly laundered slippers they can pop on would be a nice touch too, Oh, and don’t forget to hang a mirror so they can check how they look before the festivities begin.

Soften it up

From comfy cushions to cozy blankets and throws, the more soft textiles you have in your home, the more welcoming it will feel to your family and your guests. Rugs on the floor, heavy thick curtains, crocheted blankets – they all add to a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Light some candles

Candles offer a soft, warm light, and pleasing aromas to any room they are placed in, so be sure to have a few in every room you are likely to entertain in to set the right welcoming tone for those parties and events. Cinnamon, lemon, and lavender scents are always particularly inviting.

Making your home more welcoming is a good way to make visitors feel comfortable when they come over, but it will also make your home much nicer for you and your family to come back to after a hard day at work or school too.
