Some of us are welcoming of the new season. The summer that we know and love has gone and it’s at about this time of year that we notice the season begins to change. There’s a little bit more of a chill in the air and it’s easy to feel as though winter is here, even though we’ve got the whole season of fall to go through. Depending on where you live in the world, especially the US, the weather is going to be so varied for you.
In LA we won’t start to see the rainy season until November, but in Florida, the rainy season has already started which can cause a nightmare in homes. Not only that, but the colder months of the year are bound to cause a few problems in your life regardless, it’s just so much harder to get out of bed in the morning when it isn’t beautiful sunshine and hot! So, we’re going to highlight some of the changes that can happen to your home when the change in season comes, and how you can deal with them!
Rain Rain Go Away!
Some people love the rain and the calm that the seasons of fall and winter seem to do. It goes a little bit cooler, so for all of you who hate the blistering heat, it could be a blessing. But our homes think differently. It’s during this time of year, especially when hurricane season is on, that your home faces the biggest chance for damage. One secret problem that hides away until it’s a bigger problem, is mold. You could have a leak in your roof somewhere causing the ceiling of your home to become damp, which over time as it dries and gets wet over and over again, mold develops. Removing mold from your home is something you do need to leave to the professionals. If it’s something you leave and don’t get rid of it can cause health problems, so don’t think that painting over it is going to get rid of all of your issues. A quick visit from a specialist will solve all your mold-related problems.
Pesky Pests
If you live in the US you might have to deal with pests more often than homeowners in other parts of the world. From cockroaches to ants, we have to deal with it all. But the new season brings new problems, especially in the form of spiders. As the weather gets cooler the spiders look for a place to call home, which becomes your home. There are many other pests that feel the same. If you notice any signs of any nests, spiders, or whatever it may be, you should always call a pest control company to come and deal with the issue for you. It’s much safer and efficient than trying to destroy the nest with bug spray, you’ll probably do more harm than you do good!
Break-Ins
Finally, break-ins are definitely something you need to be cautious of all year round. But, during the cooler months when the nights get darker robbery rates go through the roof. It might be a good idea to install a fake camera as a deterrent, or even invest in a new one!
