5 Tips For Exercising During Lockdown

A lot of the world is on lockdown at the moment, yet you should not let this stop you from getting your weekly dose of exercise. In fact, most people would agree that exercising now is more important than ever. It’s critical for both your mental and physical health. With that in mind, continue reading to discover some helpful tips on how to exercise effectively during the current lockdown.

Exercising During Lockdown

Make the most of exercise videos

There is only one place to begin when it comes to working out from home, and this is by making the most of exercise videos. There are some great videos online nowadays, meaning you can exercise from home without spending any money. From yoga to dance to cardio; you will find workout routines that are suited to your tastes. You may have also seen that a lot of celebrities, athletes, and personal trainers have started doing live exercise workouts for people to join in with from home. Heavyweight boxing champion, Tyson Fury, has one of the most popular, with people tuning into his Instagram live feeds to do workouts with him and his wife, Paris Fury. You certainly won’t be short of options, and exercising while others around the world are doing it can make you feel like part of a community.

Find ways to stay motivated to workout

One of the most challenging elements of working out from home during the coronavirus lockdown is finding the right motivation. You may feel like all you want to do is lie in bed. However, slipping into bad habits like this can be bad for your frame of mind. This is why it is important to make sure you stay on track with your exercise. There are a number of ways you can do this. For example, scheduling exercise into your day is important. Having a routine during lockdown can make a massive difference because you feel like your life still has structure. If you schedule exercise into your day, you will know exactly when to exercise, and you will feel more committed. You should also consider creating a dedicated exercise space within your home while you’re on lockdown.

Invest in quality activewear

Another good tip is to treat yourself to some great pieces from an activewear manufacturer. Exercising in a pair of jeans and a T-shirt simply won’t cut it. You won’t feel great while exercising, and you will find it difficult to achieve the flexibility you need. This is why it is important to wear clothing that is fit for purpose. There are some really stylish activewear ranges on the market today, so you can certainly have fun treating yourself to some stylish pieces.

Diversity is the spice of life

You are quickly going to get bored if you are doing the same workout every day, especially when your days probably already have somewhat of a repetitive feel to them. That is why it is important to switch up your workout routines. Try something new. This will ensure that you never get bored. Even if something doesn’t appeal to you, give it a go! You don’t have to do it again if it doesn’t appeal to you, however, you will have a laugh in the process!

Exercise with family and friends

No, this does not mean that you should meet people from outside of your household while you’re on lockdown. We’re not encouraging you to break the rules! After all, we need to stay home to prevent the spread of this terrible virus. However, this does not mean you cannot workout with loved ones. After all, people are throwing virtual birthday parties, so why not have a virtual exercise class together? You, your friends, and/or your family, can easily work out together while using Skype or any other type of platform. There are apps now that allow you to connect eight people or more to a chat, so you can get the entire family involved. This is a great way to make working out from home fun and feel like you are still connecting with the ones you love.

So there you have it: some useful tips to help you exercise during the coronavirus lockdown. We know it’s a difficult time at the moment, and finding the want and will to exercise can feel difficult.
